My residence was built before 1960. Can it be insured against earthquake?
Your home can be insured against earthquake if the building was built after 1960. If it has been damaged by an earthquake in the past, it must have been repaired in accordance with the relevant urban planning regulations.
Are money and jewelry I have in my house covered by the insurance policy?
Money and jewelry are items that are not covered.
Can the auxiliary spaces of my home be insured?
It is possible to insure the auxiliary areas of your residence, provided that the contract specifies each area individually along with their corresponding construction values.
What is defined as "content" of a residence?
These are movable things, such as furniture and generally movable equipment of your home, as well as personal belongings, the ownership of which belongs to you or to any member of your family who lives in the insured residence.
How can I insure the contents of my home? Do I have to tell you in detail all the items to be insured?
You must declare to us the insured capital of all movable objects of your home. A detailed inventory of all movable objects inside your home is not necessary. A record of items of particular value should be made if these items are not ordinary household equipment and their value exceeds the amount of € 1,000.
Can the Bank that granted me a loan for the purchase of my house oblige me to insure my house through it?
There is no obligation to insure your home through the bank that granted you the loan. According to Bank of Greece Circular 462 you can freely choose an insurance company, if the insurance complies with the terms and conditions set out in the loan agreement.
In case the house has been purchased with a loan, what should be stated in the contract?
When applying for insurance, we must be informed of the name of the Bank (mortgagee), which is indicated on the insurance policy, as it is entitled to compensation until the repayment of the loan in case of building insurance.
How can I cancel the insurance policy?
The policyholder may cancel the insurance contract at any time by submitting a written request to the Company. The details for submitting the cancellation request are available in the Company's forms and on its website. The Insured can send the request by fax, email, or hand-deliver it.
What is the insurance period?
The duration of insurance is annual, and premiums can be paid on an annual or semi-annual basis.
